Born in Chicago, I was a “farm girl” in New Buffalo through kindergarten and then one of the “summer kids from Chicago”, spending days enjoying the beach in Union Pier (Gowdy Shores).

In those days, we pretty much “had the place to ourselves”. Cottages went unused or just forgotten. You’d walk up town to the bakery or butcher shop or Royal Blue…or ride the little train next to “Kopack’s” store(On The Lounge).That hasn’t changed (except for the train). Leisurely walks with the kids and family dog in tow are still tradition… a way to enjoy the simple pleasures and create lasting memories.

 Few cottages go unused anymore. Buyers have discovered they can be only 1 ½-2 hrs from home, yet a world apart.
